Very impressed with PlusNet!
A customer wanted to have broadband added to their TalkTalk phone package. We contacted TalkTalk and placed the order, and waited. Nothing happened! Rang them up and they said they had cancelled the order but could not give a valid reason.
We ordered again, and we waited.
Still nothing, so we rang them and they said that the order had been lost.

So we cancelled!
We placed an order with PlusNet and were connected within the week.
In the mean time I had tweeted the issue (which nobody reads) and PlusNet had picked it up and replied!
It's a shame that we have to deal with companies like TalkTalk who are so bad in dealing with their customers! But then on the flip side there are companies like PlusNet who are very good and who deserve to have our custom.
I would recommend PlusNet to anyone who is new to broadband or who would like to move away from their current supplier.
TalkTalk and Tiscali (again!)
21st Oct 2010 09:31pm
Looks like TalkTalk are messing around with integrating Tiscali into their networks, just like they did with AOL a few weeks back. I just hope they don't completely fluff it up like they did with AOL!!!
AOL live up to their name!

The wonderful AOL have struck again!
This week I have had 3 customers call to say that their broadband wasn't working, and hadn't been for about 2 weeks. Through a very long call with the first customer we eventually fixed the problem. However with equally long phone calls to AOL technical support the other 2 customers were left high and dry with AOL unable to solve the problem.
These 2 customers have now decided to cancel their AOL broadband and gone with other suppliers.
The fact that three customers have all had problems about the same time with the same ISP suggests to me that AOL have had severe problems with their servers, probably something to do with transferring server information from AOL (inc?) to Carephone Warehouse (who now own them).

Update
I've now had a further 3 AOL customers call with the exactly the same problem! Unfortunatley AOL cannot help them even though they think there is no problem.
Zonealarm doesn't Work
16th Apr 2010 06:48pm
My preferred firewall to install was ZoneAlarm. But recently it has been giving me a headache! It seems to be upsetting what should be a pleasurable browsing experience by stopping pages being viewed and Internet Explorer showing error messages.
Now I use Comodo firewall.
Slow Computers!
14th Apr 2010 10:31pm
Nearly every computer I see these days are slooow, very sloooow! The owners of these computers complain about them and ask what they can about it. "Is it a virus?" they say. Nope, it's because your computer doesn't have enough memory!
It seems that the manufacturers of these systems, in their infinite wisdom, build them with the minimum amount of memory (RAM), as defined by Microsoft, and is obviously the easiest way to cut costs and maximise profit.
However doing this makes the machine so unusable it makes a tortoise look like a hare!
I went to a customer today who had two Dell desktops running Windows XP and both had only 512MB of RAM. The machines, when running with the minimum applications, were using over 570MB. This just made them so unusable, click then wait 2 minutes for something to happen. I was asked about replacing one of them but I suggested just upgrading the memory would make, and has made a difference to lots of other machines, and big difference to how it operated...and that's what we are going to do.
This is the cheapest and easiest upgrade to make to a computer, you don't have to buy a new one. It makes so much of a difference!
If you are in the same situation with your computer, be it a desktop or laptop, then call on 07985 292995 and I will give you a very competative price on upgrading.
desktopIT now offers a remote assistance service, therefore eliminating the need to visit you at your home or office.
Download and run this simple application, then call 07985 292995.
